At 04:10 on January 16, the NJUPT IoT satellite, named after the School of Communications and Information Engineering and the Institute of Internet of Things at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT), was successfully launched aboard a Ceres-1 (Y7) sea-launched rocket off the coast of Rizhao and entered its designated orbit. GUO Yufeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of NJUPT; XIAO Fu, Vice President of NJUPT; and representatives from the Party Office, the President’s Office, the School of Communications and Information Engineering, the Institute of Internet of Things, and other relevant units witnessed the launch on site.

Successful Launch of NJUPT IoT Satellite
As the 40th satellite of the Tianqi Constellation, NJUPT IoT is a key component of the Tianqi Satellite Internet of Things Joint Laboratory established by NJUPT and Beijing Guodian Gaoke Technology Co., Ltd. It will be dedicated to testing and demonstrating an integrated space-air-ground communication network. Deeply integrated with the intelligent edge wireless network independently developed by the School of Communications and Information Engineering, the satellite will enable wide-area sensing and relay transmission of IoT data around the globe. This will form a new space-air-ground integrated network infrastructure for a broad range of IoT applications in industry, agriculture, transportation, healthcare, mining, forest protection and other fields, delivering communication services including ubiquitous sensing, collaborative access of massive terminals, and seamless coverage and transmission in multiple IoT scenarios.
Prior to the launch, NJUPT signed an agreement with Beijing Guodian Gaoke Technology Co., Ltd. to co-establish the Tianqi Satellite Internet of Things Joint Laboratory and unveiled its plaque. Focusing on the fundamental theory, application systems, and network infrastructure of satellite IoT, the lab serves as an integrated research–industry–application innovation platform. It exemplifies NJUPT's educational philosophy of rooting itself in industry and serving society while providing a real-world arena for cultivating high-caliber, interdisciplinary talent in information and communications.

Signing Ceremony
Looking ahead, NJUPT will continue leveraging its strengths in information disciplines, deepening cross-disciplinary integration with aerospace, artificial intelligence, and other fields. The university will intensify frontier exploration and core technology breakthroughs and accelerate the translation of innovations, steadfastly contributing its wisdom and strength to our nation's high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and high-quality socioeconomic development.
