Ye Meilan: President of NJUPT


Quick Facts: Miss Ye Meilan serves as a doctoral supervisor and president of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT). Miss Ye is deputy chairperson of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang and vice chairperson of Jiangsu Women’s Federation.

Miss Ye Meilan, of Han nationality, was born at Taixing, Jiangsu Province in February, 1966. After graduating from Nanjing University with a degree in modern and contemporary Chinese history, she began her educating career since July, 1987. And later she successively gained her master’s degree, doctoral degree and professorship. From 1987 to 2007, she worked at Yangzhou University where she was promoted as deputy director of the Dean’s Office in 2002. In May 2007, she began to serve temporary positions as deputy director of the Huai’an Economic Development Zone Management Committee. Two months afterwards, she was appointed vice president of NJUPT. From September to December in 2012, she was admitted to University of California, Berkeley as a trainee while maintaining her post at NJUPT. In January, 2016, she became president of Yancheng Institute of Technology. Since March 2019, she has been appointed as President of NJUPT.

Miss Ye is currently a member of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, deputy chairperson of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, and vice chairperson of the Jiangsu Women’s Federation (concurrently). Having attended the 10th and 11th Jiangsu Provincial Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conferences, she is now a member of the standing committee of the 12th. She is also a member of the 12th Executive Committee of the All-China Women’s Federation. Meanwhile, she holds such titles as a member of the Steering Committee of the History Department of the Ministry of Education, executive director of the Higher Education Management Council of China Association of Higher Education, vice president of the Jiangsu Higher Education Society, and deputy director of the National Postal Vocational Education Committee and the Society of the History of Republican China.

Boasting a wealth of experience in higher education management and research, Professor Ye has presided over and participated in more than 20 significant projects, including national planning projects, projects sponsored by National Social Science Fund, major projects of the Ministry of Education, planning projects of Jiangsu Province, major projects of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and key projects in Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu Province. Moreover, she has published over 60 articles in core journals such as CSSCI as well as ten monographs. Professor Ye has won over 10 awards, including the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the second prize of Humanities and Social Sciences by MOE, the first prize of Jiangsu Excellent Teaching Achievement Award, the first prize of Reform in Jiangsu Postgraduate Education, the first prize of Excellent Research in Jiangsu Philosophy and Social Sciences, and the second prize of Jiangsu Provincial History Society.
