On May 3 and 4, President Yang Zhen headed a delegation to visit Portland State University. After attending the inauguration of Prof. Rahmat Shoureshi as the president of Portland State University (PSU), Professor Yang held two detailed talks with him. Both sides reached a consensus on some important issues, such as cooperation mode, cooperation framework, name of the institution and financial structure when jointly establishing the Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institution, and then a memorandum of understanding was signed.
During the visit, the delegation also held two meetings with Interim Provost Margaret C. Everett of Portland State University and the deans of Maseeh College of Engineering & Computer Science, International Partnerships, etc. The delegation gave a brief introduction about NJUPT, interfaced the curriculum plan and training mode of the subject and specialty, and discussed the details of the cooperation agreement. Besides the meetings, the delegation visited the campus, English Training Center and some of the laboratory facilities at PSU.
On May 5 and 6, the delegation visited Oregon State University (OSU) and held talks with Dr. Bella Bose, Interim Head of School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, and Professor Liu Huaping. They have reached a consensus on the development of postgraduate exchange programs, faculty exchanges, cooperation in scientific research and other matters and intended to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and specific cooperation agreements in the near future. During the visit, the delegation visited the campus, smart classrooms, student innovation center, laboratories and other facilities at OSU.
Relevant persons in charge from Office of Academic Affairs, School of Electronic and Optical Engineering, School of Microelectronics and School of Oversea Education also joined the visit to PSU and OSU.
